Indications
Insulin-independent diabetes mellitus type II, if the level of glucose in the blood can not adequately support only diet, exercise and weight loss.
Contradistions
Hypersensitivity to glimepiride or any component of the drug, to derivatives of sulfonylurea or other sulfonamides. Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus type I, diabetic ketoacidosis, diabetic coma, severe renal and hepatic impairment.
Dosage & Administration
The initial dose is 1 mg (½ table 2 mg) of glimepiride per day. If such a dose allows disease control to be achieved, it should be used for supportive care.
If glycemic control is not optimal, the dose should be increased to 2 or 3 or 4 mg glimepiride per day in stages (at intervals of 1-2 weeks).
A dose greater than 4 mg per day gives better results only in some cases.
The maximum recommended dose is 6 mg of Glimax per day.
