Composition:
active substance: salbutamol; 1 dose contains salbutamol 100 mcg (in the form of salbutamol sulfate) excipients: propellant HFA 134a.

Pharmacotherapeutic group:
Remedys for the treatment of obstructive airways diseases. Adrenergic drugs for inhalation use. Selective agonists of beta2-adrenergic receptors. Salbutamol. ATX code R03A C02.

Indications:
Short-term (4 to 6 hours) bronchodilation with a rapid onset (within about 5 minutes) with airway obstruction. Relief of asthma attacks in diseases accompanied by airway obstruction, such as bronchial asthma. Prevention of attacks of bronchospasm associated with exposure to an allergen or caused by exercise. In the complex therapy of patients with bronchial asthma.

Method of administration and dosage:
Ventolin Inhaler – aerosol, which is intended for inhalation use through the mouth only. For patients who find it difficult to synchronize their breathing with the use of an inhaler, it is recommended to additionally use a spacer – a device to facilitate inhalation of inhaled drugs.

Adults (including elderly patients)
To relieve exacerbation of asthma symptoms, including acute bronchospasm, 1 inhalation (100 μg) can be used as the minimum starting dose. If necessary, the dose can be increased to 200 mcg (2 inhalations). Prophylactically, 10-15 minutes before physical activity or expected contact with allergens, 200 μg is used (2 inhalations). With long-term maintenance therapy, it is recommended to use 200 μg (2 inhalations) 4 times a day. The total daily dose of salbutamol should not exceed 800 mcg (8 inhalations). For children over 12 years of age, the dose is the same as for adults.

Children aged 4 to 12
For relief of acute bronchospasm, 1 inhalation (100 μg) is used. If necessary, the dose can be increased to 200 mcg (2 inhalations). Prophylactically, 10-15 minutes before physical activity or expected contact with allergens, 100 μg is used (1 inhalation), if necessary, the dose can be increased to 200 μg (2 inhalations). With long-term maintenance therapy, it is recommended to use 200 μg (2 inhalations) 4 times a day.

The total daily dose of salbutamol should not exceed 800 mcg (8 inhalations). An increased need for beta2-adrenergic receptors may indicate a worsening of the course of asthma. In these conditions, the patient’s treatment regimen should be reviewed and the need for prescribing GCS therapy should be considered.
